Brotherhood Houses of Carmona
Carmona keeps unique religious images of incalculable value. One of the most relevant is the representation of the Lord of Sorrow (Señor de la Amargura), sculpted by Jorge Fernández Alemán in 1521. It is the oldest dated piece that still processions during Holy Week in Andalucía. It is also worth to mention the meticulous craftmanship and heritage value of the trousseau used by the floats, such as embroideries, carvings and gold work.
Visitors can enjoy these pieces visiting the House of the Brotherhoods of the Column, at Saint James Church, the House of the Brotherhoods of Sorrow, at Saint Philip’s Church, the House of the Brotherhoods of Hope, at Our Savior’s Church, the House of the Brotherhood of Humility and Patience at Saint Peter’s Church, the House of the Brotherhoods of Our Father, the House of the Brotherhoods of The Entombment at Saint Bartolomew’s Church, the House of the Brotherhoods of Expiration at Saint Blaise and the House of the Brotherhoods of The Descent from the Cross at Saint Francis Chapel.
