MUSEUM OF POPULAR RELIGIOSITY, CHURCH OF SAN JUAN
The Museum of Popular Religiosity of the Church of San Juan is located at the foot of the Mota Fortress. Inaugurated in 1998, its purpose was to gather all samples of popular religiosity linked to the Brotherhood of Christ of the Health of Alcalá la Real. The Museum includes three exhibition rooms: the first one is dedicated to the Brotherhood of Christ of the Health; the second displays a varied collection of lithographs, religious books, crucifixes, small religious imagery, and embroidery; and the last one includes –among other objects and utensils– several original molds of rostrillos (masks) of characters that represent scenes of the Passion of Christ during Alcalá la Real Holy Week.
